Beth Kille and Erik Kjelland Team Up for Holiday CD; Release Party at Crescendo on December 12
Beth Kille and Erik Kjelland don’t take much time off. Ever. In addition to their own hectic schedules of writing, recording and performing with their bands (The Beth Kille Band and the Mascot Theory) and as solo artists, they squeezed in time over the last several months to write, record and produce North Star Sessions. Seven of the album’s eight tracks are new originals, five of them co-written. The one traditional they do cover might as well be original because the arrangement is entirely unique. Read a review of the CD here.
Time is increasingly spare for Kille as she also is a co-leader of Girls Rock Camp, Chick Singer Night and is now the Director of the Madison Area Music Association Awards production. How she found time to manage all this is mystifying as she also engineered and mixed the album in her home studio. Artwork and graphics for North Star Sessions were done by Kjelland and once again he’s produced a visually striking cover that reflects the music contained therein.
You can get a copy of the CD at the duo’s CD Release event and Christmas show at the Crescendo on December 12 at 7 pm. Joining them will be Ida Jo, Jami Simpson (of The Dang-Its), and Paul Metz (of The Mascot Theory).
