Wurst Times Promoters Present Harvest Time Festival
Rodney Knocke is a really good person as all his friends will tell you. So is Jodi Kitts as all who know her would say. But while there are lots of really great people in the city, there are few of them who go to the lengths that these two have. Wurst Times Festival has grown over the last four years to a community festival that features over forty bands. That event is now held at the 701 E. Washington Ave. complex and utilizes all of the venues: the Brink Lounge, the High Noon Saloon and the Brass Ring. This summer they brought in an outdoor stage for the first time to great success. Wurst Times benefits its fiscal sponsor the Madison Area Music Association and the Second Harvest Food Bank. Knocke and Kitts work tirelessly to make Wurst Times happen and the proceeds go to charity.
That apparently does not satisfy their need to serve the community as they are organizing a fall version of Wurst Times that they are calling the Harvest Time Festival. HTF a much less extravagant affair than WTF but then again, that’s just the way WTF got its start. All proceeds will go to the Second Harvest Food Bank.
Harvest Time Festival will be held at the East Side Club on Sunday, October 12th from 1-6 pm. Five acts will be featured including Midnight Voices, an a cappella, all-female high school choir that is directed by Ida Jo. Ida Jo will also perform. She’s been honored with numerous Madison Area Music Awards and won the WAMI this year for Female Vocalist. She also has a new album out, the Current. HTF will also feature performances by the Old Speed, A Minute Jack Forum, and Teddy Davenport and the “all new” Cushions.
Unlike WTF, HTF will not be accepting food donations but will gladly accept cash donations. Suggested cover is $10. Sponsors include: The East Side Club, Max Ink Radio, Bubbles’ Doubles and Slide Food Cart and Catering, contributing musicians, artists and Ten Anonymous Townies.
