Who:    HEWN, The Drain and Cowboy Winter [3 rock bands]
When:  Sat. May 4, 10 pm
Where:  Dragonfly Lounge
Join WORT Saturday, May 4 at 10 pm for an extended May Day! celebration with some up & coming bands at an up & coming downtown venue, the Dragonfly Lounge at 401 E. Washington Avenue.
The lineup features three of Madison’s hardest working rock bands:  Hewn, The Drain and Cowboy Winter, all of whom have released albums of original material within the past several months.
The earthy, percussion-heavy sounds of Hewn were featured on WORT’s Underground Stage at the 2012 Willy St. Fair and the Atwood Summerfest, and in a live performance on WORT’s Thursday night show Psychoacoustics. A few years ago, The Drain rose from the ashes of a notorious band named Faghat, and continue to rock their psych-punk quirkiness at local underground venues such as Mr. Robert’s, the downtown Great Dane and also on Psychoacoustics, and the heavy garage-soul outfit Cowboy Winter has appeared live on Friday afternoon’s Who Cooks For You? as well as playing to enthusiastic crowds at Mickey’s, High Noon Saloon, house parties and wherever they have a chance.
The Dragonfly Lounge, located beneath and operated by Bellini Italian Restaurant, opened in late 2011 and showcases live music on weekends.
Admission is only $6 to this 21+ show, which includes a ticket for various door prizes from local restaurants, breweries and merchants: House of Brews, One Barrel Brewing, Bellini Restaurant, Union Cab and more!
All proceeds benefit WORT, and this event showcases our Musicians for WORT Club, a great avenue for local artists to support the station while gaining great exposure to their target audiences:  http://www.wortfm.org/donate-support-wort/musicians-for-wort/
For more information on the May Day Extra! Party, keep an eye for news on our web site at http://www.wortfm.org/ or call the station at 256-2001.
