Four Acts Rubbing Shoulders This Fall

It wasn’t long ago that local Americana/Country chanteuse Whitney Mann was landing opening slots for Willie Nelson. Now there are more Madison performers rubbing shoulders with some bigger touring names.

PHOX has been all over the news lately; landing management and booking contracts, touring Europe, playing Lollapalooza and generally wowing crowds wherever they go. The band recently landed an opening spot on the Blitzen Trapper tour. The run includes fifteen stops, mostly in the Eastern states, with stops in Chicago and Milwaukee (Turner Hall on October 8). The tour will wrap up on October 9th in Minneapolis at First Avenue. Not too shabby. Remember, you can catch these rising stars September 20 when they play King Street Live, a free show featuring Delta Spirit and presented by the fine folks at the Majestic Theater.

Local metal act Lords of the Trident, who just released a new album Plan of Attack, will be opening for Germany’s 80’s metal legend HELLOWEEN on September 30 in Joliet, Illinois. Tickets are $35 online, but the band are selling tickets for $25. Fans wanting tickets for the event can email mailto:lordsofthetrident@gmail.com, and they’ll let you know the details. The band has had a rough go of it lately, their touring van broke down in West Virginia causing them to cancel valuable tour dates. The vehicle needed further work once they got it back to Madison. You may want to offer them the full $35.

Another metal act making big waves in those circles is Masked Intruder. They are currently on the FAT Tour with Less Than Jake and Anti-Flag. That tour crosses the country and will wind up in Houston on December 6. Closest stop: Minneapolis on November 20.

The Whiskey Farm released a very successful album From the Still earlier this year (read the review here) and have worked hard in support of it. August 29 they will open for Shooter Jennings at the Majestic Theater.
